Ways to Deal with Harassing Debt Collectors

Today, debts are one of major problems so many people are facing only because of some unwise choices of spending more then they could afford afterwards. Credit cards have made people exceed their limitations and the end result is that people faces lots of debt issues at one time. With so much stress and tension they seem to be worried all the time about so many things and especially about the ways to deal with harassing debt collectors whom they have to face once in a while. If you are reading this article then I believe you are also having problems facing debt collectors. Being in debt makes you receive regular calls from various collection agencies and their collectors. For your concern, I am listing a few ways to deal with these harassing debt collectors.

A debt collector can only call you because of personal debts like car payment, credit cards, host of other personal loans or medical payments too. So if you have already affirmed bankruptcy then they cannot bug you about business debts or any other personal debts, so make sure not to let them play mind games with you.

Secondly, consider the means of communication. A debt collector has a lot of options available for the purpose of communication. He can call you, come at your place, send a fax or simply he can send u an e-mail. They can even show up at your work place unless you have told them strictly not to appear at your workplace. Remember one thing, a debt collector cannot bother you late night or too early in the morning until and unless you have permitted them, else you can take legal action against them. Sometimes a request letter can also work by simply writing to the company to stop sending debt collectors over and over again. Once your letter is received all they can do is contact you in case if they are taking any action against you or just to inform that no debt collector would visit you again.

Debt collectors might also contact other people such as your family members, people from the place you work at, not for any harassment but to find out where you live and how to contact you only otherwise they could get in trouble. It is up to them if they do or do not tell anyone about your debts. If you have your lawyer all ready then a debt collector can only talk to him and not to any other people for the purpose of seeking your personal information.

Above mentioned information was just to get you aware of some ways through which you can deal with the harassing debt collectors.
