Once your letter is received all they can do is contact you in case if they are taking any action against you or just to inform that no debt collector would visit you again.

Debt collectors might also contact other people such as your family members, people from the place you work at, not for any harassment but to find out where you live and how to contact you only otherwise they could get in trouble. It is up to them if they do or do not tell anyone about your debts. If you have your lawyer all ready then a debt collector can only talk to him and not to any other people for the purpose of seeking your personal information.
